"Here comes my big 3.0" it's what i thought on my way home on October 28th. 2014 has been a blessed year for me and that is why i was excited about my upcoming themed Tribute in Atlanta, Georgia. I am a strong believer in giving as many people a chance at life. My work involves just about that and i am excited about the opportunities that are unfolding. My 3.0 comes in the backdrop of a successful pan-African event held in Nairobi, Kenya which was graced by my firend and mentor, Joe Beasley. So many thoughts racing across my mind!
I was excited to begin my 30th birthday celebrations with my adopted family and friends in my current home city - San Fransisco. For about four hours all i did was have fun and hang out with the loveliest people in the world. We talked about everything, from policy to politics, work to relationships, human rights to justice.
At some point i took a gaze around the room and realized that i have found a family away from home. I am surrounded by so much love. People who care about people. I was moved. For a moment, in retrospect i am thinking about my life and where i have been. What i have had to overcome to get here. That can wait for another day.
The night belonged to Alfonso Cortinas, even though he was sickly, he did make an effort to attend and entertain all of us. As we say good byes, i am thinking of how great this has been. I am looking forward to Atlanta and Seattle. My big 3.0 is turning out alright. I am exhilarated, thrilled to bits, absolutely pleased.
